Ok, for the 2nd year running, I've had to cancel my LAN trip. This year, the reason is fairly compelling. On Monday, August 5th, my mother-in-law went in for major surgury. While she was recovering, on Thursday of that same week, she seized up and essentially died. She was revived, however and placed on life support while doctors did emergency exploratory surgury to determine the problem. It was discovered that she was bleeding internally due not to the original surgury, but to blodd thinners she was placed on afterwards. The problems were fixed and she remains in ICU to continue her recovery. Doctors were pessimistic about her chances, so my wife has spent the last two days at the hospital at her side. Needless to say, I was forced to change my plans. I am sorry if I have caused any inconvenience. I am disappointed I was unable to go, but I am sure you understand. Maybe next year....
